PRP Seats Install Part II

Now drop the seat into position and screw in all four bolts to secure it down to the floor. Make sure that when the first seat goes in that the seat belt receiver mount is on the inside of the seat. With the seats in position it is now time to remove the seat belt receivers from your stock seats.

Simply turn the passenger seat upside down and remove the receiver. The driver side one might be a little tougher if your truck came equipped with a split-bench style seat. Using some leverage from a pry bar or screwdriver remove the plastic cover that houses the seat belt receiver bolt. This piece of plastic will be tough to bend since it has never seen the light of day under the seat. I just broke it off because its really a pain and the bolt needs to unscrew out towards it. If your seatbelt receivers stick or aren't as smooth as new I recommend taking them a part and cleaning them with some WD-40.

To mount the receivers on the seat brackets you will need 2 hefty high grade bolts with some washers and locknuts so they won't move around. Simply bolt them on the brackets and you will be ready to roll. The seats have enough slots for a 5-point harness but the stock seatbelt is plenty of support since the seats won't let you go anywhere anyway!! Racing harnesses can be installed later on but you WON'T want to be using them everyday like the comfortable stock seatbelts :] I will be installing some here on the site in the near future. You will want to make sure that they are DOT approved so that they are street legal also. If you get pulled over and they aren't the officer will just have something else to write you up for.

So there you are. Two new, nice smelling seats that are nearly 50lbs lighter than your worn out, no supporting stock Tacoma Seats. I won't even put up a "before" picture of the seats because there were just too ugly. And the position of them? Perfect. I've been riding around on them for a while and I haven't ever thought about wanting them at a different angle from what the brackets provide. Pretty impressive.

And the support?? Unmatched. No more sliding back and forth while driving through turns. No more holding yourself in place with your left knee against the door and your right hand trying to hold onto the shifter for support. These buckets HOLD YOU. Your legs are supported and your thighs and back are held all along your back and sides, very comfortable. It just takes a day to get used to hopping into them. Since they are a bucket you need to get yourself a little higher in order to drop into them when entering the cab. It would only be annoying if you were a delivery person. PRP also makes buckets seats with lower sides and also seats that are wider for bigger people.
